Since this blog is supposedly about running, I figured with this post I should probably provide a quick update on how my running is going. Right now I am currently training for the Chicago Distance Classic on August 12. Seeing as it is only two weeks away – my training really needs to pick up a little bit. This week I did 11 on Sunday, 6 on Monday, and then I have not run the rest of the week….. Tomorrow though I plan on getting out for a 5 mile run in the morning and then on Saturday it will be a 12 miler (I hope). I really need to get in a bunch of miles the following week and then taper the week right before the half.
For those of you who are still considering doing the half-marathon, there are still spots open – you can register on the Chicago Distance Classic Website. I am looking forward to seeing many of my friends there!!

9,000 bikers lined up along Columbus Drive for a 25 mile bike ride through Chicago…nothing too special about that right…well, not really unless you consider that we started riding at 1:45 am on Sunday morning!! Every year, the city of Chicago holds the The L.A.T.E Night Ride one evening in the summer. I had never participated in anything like this before, but I figured why not…so I signed up!!
My friends and I started the ride at about 1:45 am and didn’t finish until 4:15. The ride took us up Elston to Foster and then over to the Lake Front. We then rode along the lake for about 9 miles to Buckingham Fountatin, where we were greeted by volunteers who provided us with a great (but far from gourmet) breakfast. Overall the ride was a blast – the only thing I regret was not staying for the sunrise – but I guess there is always next year!!

This past week has been a whirl-wind for me. On Sunday (June 30), I went to the Taste of Chicago with my sis and roommate. We saw Sara Evans and Craig Morgan – for Free!! And then we attempted to grab something to eat at the Taste, but the crowds were so bad we only managed to grab this weird chicken sandwich and some ice cream. The ice cream was the best though – it was Merlot Chocolate Chip – YUM!!
On Tuesday, I ended up going to the Fireworks at Grant Park. It was not the best firework show I have ever seen, but it was still good. The best part of the whole evening though was getting completely soaked in the rain while I was coming back to my apartment – classic!! But at least the rain held out until the fireworks were over
On Wednesday, I went to Navy Pier to see the Fireworks – what a disappointment! I was expecting a big fireworks display, but it was nothing more than its regular Wednesday night fireworks. I did get to meet up with a good friend of mine, so I was excited about that.
On Friday, I went to this new bar on Weed Street and go figure the bar is called Weed’s. It wasn’t too bad - I would definitely go back. I also finally got to see my co-worker’s band play. I must say he is an amazing guitar player!!On Saturday and Sunday, it was way too hot to do anything. But I did manage to get out for an 11 mile run on Saturday and a 8 mile run on Sunday
