Kevin’s birthday Celebration

August 5, 2009

Happy Birthday, Kevin!!

Today, my family and I celebrated my brother, Kevin’s 19th birthday. We didn’t do anything fancy, just dinner at one of his favorite restaurants and then cake back at the house. It was really good to go out with my family and just relax. However, it was a little sentimental because this is the first birthday we have celebrated since my grandma passed away in June.

I was actually standing in the kitchen cutting his cake, when I could hear my grandma’s voice telling me to ‘cut just a little piece’ for her. She never ate a lot of sweets, but on special occasions she never turned down a piece of cake or ice cream. She would of really liked the cake we got for my brother..it was chocolate – her favorite.

As more and more birthdays approach and as the holidays came nearer, I have a feeling I am going to have more and more of those moments of sensing my grandma or remembering the things she used to say. I am so grateful for all those memories that I have of her!

I still miss her terribly and wish she could have been here to see my brother turn 19, but I know that she was celebrating up in Heaven and eating a piece of chocolate cake in his honor!

Graduation Day…

June 3, 2007

Well, yesterday was my little bro’s high school graduation.  Besides for being in a hot, stuffy gym for an hour or so, the graduation went really well. I don’t know what it is about graduations, but I always get choked up when I attend them, and this one was no exception.  When the band played Pomp & Circumstance – I got all teary eyed.  Boy, I just love graduations!!  Here is a pic of the graduation -

Graduation

Way to go – bro!! This chapter in you life may have closed, but new chapters/adventures await you in college.  Highschool is great – but college is going to be greater…trust me on this.

After the graduation, my sister and I decided to grab some late night dinner at Wendy’s – that was a mistake. Let’s just say they got the order completely wrong!  But, we did bring it to their attention and 20 minutes later I was able to enjoy my chicken sandwich – yum!

And for a running update – On Friday, I went for a 4.5 mile run in the morning.  Today was a rest day.  I figure I need to rest up,  so that I can go out for a long run tomorrow. Let’s just hope the weather holds out.
